About the project

We're a pandemic non-profit start-up. We make healthy and nutritious meals for 80 cents, and are feeding the low income Black communities in Harlem, Astoria and Queens that have been hardest hit by COVID. So far we've cooked 72,000+ meals.

We're 100% volunteer run organization with a difference. We are efficient and effective making a little go a long way. Because we can make a delicious meal for 80 cents, everything that you donate goes to feeding those in need.

There is a greater demand for our food than we can meet with our current donations. We want to make sure that the Black communities that we serve have enough food through the holidays, and to see them into January. With your donation we can make sure that we continue to feed the communities most in need.

The Steps

We have a rolling action plan which is already in practice. This includes:

4 times per week cooking sessions at our neighborhood community center, using the indredients bought with the money raised through this project.

Gathering from our pool of 200 volunteers, we will be preparing 3,000 meals a week, which will be distributed to lower income, black communities.

Why we‘re doing it

Our project contibutes to closing the gap of food insecurity in New York City. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who have cooked throughout the whole pandemic. We've cooked through COVID, curfews, protests and NYC shut downs. Sometimes we've been one of the main organizations cooking food, and everything we do is carried out with a lot of love.
