My name is Gerry Simpson, I am an established artist and designer who has worked in the Sacramento region for nearly 25 years.

I am seeking funds to create an Abstract Art exhibition that will be shown in Sacramento in 2023. The show is entitled: Everyone is Invited.

The exhibition, Everyone is Invited challenges the viewer to see abstract art simply for what it is. Abstract art is defined as art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, color, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.

Although simply defined, many do not feel comfortable  viewing or interpreting this type of art form and often move right past it instead of taking the time to enjoy it.

With this in mind my exhibition my show will ask the viewer to see without drawing conclusions as to who the Artist is... to create a space where they are not forced into anything other than an appreciation of the shapes, color & form that appears on the canvas & a place where the viewer will have the freedom to enjoy and appreciate the art for what it is and on their own terms.

  • Develop and create exhibition pieces that will challenge views to see abstract art in new and exciting ways.
  • Establish exhibition programming, Artist talk and reception materials.
  • Create both digital and  promotional materials
  • Frame, hang and exhibit the abstract work.

why we're doing it

The exhibition is being created with the thought of educating the viewer about abstract art, and creating a space where they can comfortably look at this art in new, exciting ways.

Exhibition cost: $425.00

Instillation: $450.00

Programing: $300.00

Promotion: $225.00
