About the project
Everybody Eats is a food delivery service that aims to fight hunger in our local communities. We partner with food banks, non-profits, and food providers that seek to provide nutritious meals to their community. According to Food Bank NYC, some food pantries experienced over a 700 percent increase in clients due to the coronavirus crisis. Many people who rely on emergency food assistance struggle to access the available food due to their status as elderly, disabled, immunocompromised, or single-parent individuals. With over 1.5 million people experiencing food-insecurity in New York City and unprecedented circumstances, many of which have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Everybody Eats aims to ensure that everybody eats with dignity, regardless of income status.
Everybody Eats has launched many pop-up events and delivery campaigns to provide emergency food assistance to New Yorkers in all five boroughs. Your support will help us sustain consistent delivery services, starting to the Brownsville community in Brooklyn, NY via our partnership with Collective Fare. Collective Fare provides seasonally fresh, delicious, and nutritious meals for all, prepared in their 5,000 square foot community kitchen space. Our goal is to deliver groceries to at least 3,000 families in 2021 - help us make this possible! The more funds we raise, the greater amount of families we can support.

Why we‘re doing it
One day, I met a woman in my community who needed the support of a local food pantry to feed herself for the remainder of the month. The woman had physical impairments, and struggled to make her way down the block, even moreso to the nearest food pantry. By the time she arrived, the line had dozens of people waiting - she could not even see the entrance of the building. Once she got to the front, there was no food left. My co-founder Muhammad and I created Everybody Eats exists so real-life scenarios like this can be avoided, especially for individuals who are elderly, disabled, immunocompromised, or single-parents.
Across New York City, there has been a 53% increase in food pantry clients since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, 40% of food pantries have closed due to coronavirus-related risks. Now more than ever, New Yorkers are struggling to feed themselves and their families. Even with the hope of vaccines being available, food pantries are still struggling to meet their demands and individuals continue to face financial hardship. Everybody Eats believes we can solve issues with food-insecurity using the resources that already exist within our communities. In a place as plentiful as New York City, we have the potential to work with community food providers to meet the collective demand across our city.
