About the project
Mill Brook Garden was designed to provide a gardening, communal, and educational space for tenants at Mill Brook Houses. Starting in 2018, we were fortunate to get support from the tenants in Mill Brook Houses, Osborne Association's Justice Community Program, Project Petals, the Open Space Institute, New York Restoration Project, NYCHA Sustainability Division, and community members. Most of the garden's main structures have been constructed and now we are focusing on opening the garden a couple of days a week in the summer. The goal in the summer is to have educational programs to display our solar energy station, compost station, and our rainwater capture system. Use these stations to explain science concepts and the importance of water and energy conservation.

The Steps
The steps are to
1. Have a consultant to assist in fixing our solar panel and installation
3. Work with artists to design an educational display that can be constructed in the garden
2. Fix two of our raised beds and our compost station lids
Why we‘re doing it
Our project works on increasing awareness of Climate Issues and environmental justice. It focuses on using a hands-on lab to learn about planting and learn science concepts.
