the project

¡WEPA! Festival is an annual Latino community festival in the Southside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn produced by El Puente's Green Light District (GLD). ¡WEPA! showcases the vibrant cultural expression of the Latino heritage of the Southside with over 50 artists and artisans that will sing, dance, perform, and display their work, as well as other engaging activities for people of all ages. ¡WEPA! also brings neighbors and visitors together to celebrate and share culture, inspiring all to work together to create a more vibrant, equitable future.

Last year's festival brought over 2,000 residents, visitors, and families to the Southside; this year, we are excited to welcome many more to this celebratory, community building event. We hope that you will support and join us for this festival of community and culture!

the steps

Steps include booking performers, booking a stage and sound, renting and buying materials, recruiting tablers, designing programming and content, promoting the event, coordinating all supplies and artists, and setting up and hosting the event.

why we're doing it

¡WEPA! is designed to celebrate the arts within Williamsburg's Latino community, uplifting artists and the community through a festival of cultural expression. In addition to being an opportunity to support local artists, ¡WEPA! aims to build bridges across the neighborhood, by connecting neighbors and visitors to share culture, build community, and envision a future that includes and empowers everyone.
