the project

iN Education will utilize ioby funding towards providing stipends for virtual, in-person, or pre-recorded presentations through its Battle of the Teal art program. Network members, industry professionals, certified life coaches, and active visual or performing artists will share their stories, successes, and pitfalls with students. They will also provide tips, feedback, how-tos, and other details about their journey to inspire and encourage students to build upon their skills and pursue their passions.

This project will primarily serve students of the North Ridgeville City Schools. We will continue our community outreach efforts to offer presentations for other K-12 students in Lorain County. We will serve teachers from participating schools and encourage them to invite their students to join in on the presentations based on the capacity if hosted in person.

the steps

  • (now - Oct 5) - Coordinate with North Ridgeville City School (NRCS) staff and other Lorain County teachers on the presentation schedules
  • (by Oct 7, 2022) - complete draft schedule of presentations
  • (Oct 5 - Dec 31) - enlist and confirm the availability of speakers/presenters
  • (Oct 10 - Dec 31, 2022) - provide up to five presentations for K-12 students

why we're doing it

iN Education's overarching goal is to help students understand themselves; our motto is “Your journey, your impact, our future.” Identifying an individual’s gift(s) matters. We proudly offer programs and services focusing on social-emotional wellness, self-exploration, self-development, arts, culture, and humanities. We believe that education is the foundation of a generation’s ability to survive and thrive in the future. Each generation faces new challenges, and our education system must continually engage, motivate and stimulate our students to be adequately prepared to meet those challenges. The next generation of aspiring leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs will be leading far more complicated, diverse people who are well-informed yet unprepared. It’s imperative to influence and shape newer generations for a better future.

The overarching goal for iN Education's Battle of the Teal art program is to develop, groom, and prepare K-12 students interested in showcasing their visual and performing art forms. All participating youth gain access to our platform as a way to express, engage and connect with their peers and art community through various program activities. As educators, coaches, mentors, creatives, and other professionals, it is our duty to be mindful of the potential effects participation in a competitive environment may have on students. We expect that most youth would have an interest in pursuing a career path in one of the creative industries

Battle of the Teal is more than a talent show. It is a year-round hybrid program full of Arts & Culture, and Education. Participating young artists receive resources delivered in various ways: one-on-one or group mentoring or coaching sessions, hands-on, creative projects, and live or video presentations related to their art interests. Our services have been offered primarily virtually in school and/or after school for the last two years. We are open, by request, to accommodate in-person activities.
