We are eager to celebrate EarthWeek this year at PS3 with the theme, "Friends of the Earth."  We have plans to create a series of in-school virtual trips and activites as well as after-school and weekend in-person and remote events to support all families to participate. Students in K-5 classes will have the opportunity to participate in grade-specific activities and trips such as: The Hudson River Parks' virtual classes about Fish Ecology in the nearby Hudson River, Our Urban Waste Recycling at Simms Recycling Plant in Brooklyn, Kusama: Cosmic Nature at the New York Botanical Garden and much more.

In addition our after school programming includes three nature walks with expert ecology educators in Washington Square Park, one visit to the new Tide Deck at Pier 26 with the educators form the Hudson River Park Trust as well as a trip to the Greenmarket. We have remote actitivies planned such as two plant-based, local-produce focused cooking classes for families and a series of climate videos from Our Climate Our Future with a culiminating art project from the Climate Museum; Art for Congress. Students will create art to express their emotions about our climate urging our congress to take action by sending them the art directly. 

Finally, we will have some in-person local events to build tree guards for our trampled street trees and to engage students in a "Earth Trail" highlighting sustainable features, organizatinos and businesses in our school neighborhood.
