the project
Green Living Science is committed to its mission of educating, informing and advocating for a healthy environment for all. This Earth Week, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day!
Though we can’t be in classrooms or out in the community at this time, we remain diligent and committed to delivering our mission to educate Detroit about environmental issues and are proactively exploring ways to navigate through our programming disruptions. We have developed free online resources and fun activities to share with teachers and parents who have had to learn the art of homeschooling - to continue to engage youth in their learning.
The Detroit families we serve are especially vulnerable during this time, which is why we have made the difficult decision to cancel our annual fundraising event. In past years, Art & Amble for the Environment helps us raise over $25,000 that pays for our youth education programs. While unfortunate, we know this decision protects the health and safety or our staff and our community.
the steps
Your unwavering support is the very ground we stand on and we are grateful for all you have done to support our programs. During this crisis and the budgetary shortfall it has created, your support of our mission is needed now, more than ever, so that when it comes time for school to resume, Green Living Science will still be there to support our teachers and students.
why we're doing it
This global crisis has shown a light on how unprepared communities may be to face future crises like the many disasters that will come with a changing climate. Our major goal is to educate, inform and advocate for a healthy environment for all. A lack of focus on this will impact our planet for future decades. When the urgency has lifted, the environmental issues will remain, but you can help ensure that Green Living Science will be here to continue the mission.
