About the project
For more than a decade Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary has attracted a wide variety of wild birds who have stop to feed at the sanctuary in their migration. DSBS is located on Grant Avenue between between 169 and 170 Streets in the Bronx New York. Our mission of maintaining and protecting green spaces in urban areas, for more than a decade, is faced with no longer being able to provide bird seed and food to its migrating bird population, and to those who have made a home at Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary during the winter months.
The Steps
Implementing a plan to buy seeds in bulk, securing and storing seeds at the DSBS's site and providing seed and food during the winter months: December through March, will enable the project's success. By securing the funds to provide seeds over the winter months Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary will continue to help wild birds in their migration.
Why we‘re doing it
Obtaining the necessary funding to continue feeding wild birds will help aide them, in their use of Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary, as a way station along their migratory path. The inability to continue to do so will disrupt their migratory path.
