A student-led, adult supported coffee shop through YEP (Young Entrepreneurs Program) at Dater Montessori. The profits from the Dater Percolator will help support field studies for students at Dater Montessori.

About the project
Dater Montessori is a dynamic, inclusive and caring elementary school serving a diverse population of children in preschool through 6th grade and their families. The educators in the building are committed to educating the whole child and providing learning environments that provide both enrichment and remediation.
The Dater Percolator is a student-run, adult supported coffee shop and the key part of the Young Entrepreneur Program (YEP) at Dater. All 5th & 6th grade students regardless of ability are able to be a part of the coffee shop team. The student leadership team will run the coffee shop each school day from 8 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Students will be responsible for:
- Making coffee
- Serving customers
- Marketing the Dater Percolator
- Running and Balancing the Register
- Making Daily Deliveries
- Maintaining Inventory and Coffee Shop Cleanliness
During this program students will have go through four weeks of training in:
- Customer Service
- Marketing
- Sanitation and Food Handling
- The History of Coffee and what makes a Good Cup of Coffee
This profits from the Dater Percolator will provide financial assistance to students for the 6th grade field study at Camp Joy and ensure that all students are able to fully participate regardless of ability to pay.

Why we‘re doing it
The Dater Percolator and the Young Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) will provide 5th and 6th grade students with leadership skills through running the coffee shop at Dater Montessori. It will also help all 6th grade students fully participate in the field studies at Dater Montessori Elementary. The Dater Percolator is not only a student run coffee shop, it also serves as a builder of community where adults gather in the morning before school to connect with one another and more deeply to the values and culture of Dater Montessori. The Dater Percolator was closed for two years because of Covid and your support will help bring back this important piece of what makes Dater Greater through Peace, Community and Hard Work.
