About the project
The Criminal Justice (Public Safety) Summer Camp is an educational program designed to help middle and high school students interested in the field of criminal justice and fire sciences. The mission of the Criminal Justice Summer Camp is to introduce local youth to the field of Criminal Justice and Fire Sciences, while promoting critical thinking, application, problem-solving and writing skills. This is achieved through hands-on activities, workshops, seminars, presentations by field professionals, a college fair, and field trips to agencies that represent criminal justice and fire sciences.
The Steps
Since field trips are an integral part of this project and needed to bring this to fruition, we will raise the funds by April 15th. Then, we will complete the following activities:
April 30, 2015 Finalize our transportation agreements with the charter bus company.
May 8, 2015 Confirm arrangements with field trip locations.
June 2015 The three trips will be taken.
Why we‘re doing it
We are hosting the summer camp to introduce the students to careers in criminal justice or public safety, while hopefully reducing juvenile delinquency and future negative contacts with the system. The trips will allow for first-hand knowledge and exposure to the various agencies involved in criminal justice system, as well as public safety.
