the project

New Horizons Cooperative Preschool serves Boulder's most vulnerable families through our play-based bilingual preschool. Each year 65-70% of our children are from extremely low to very low-income families, and more than 50% speak English as their second language.

Because of the COVID-19 shutdown, our families are suffering.  They are struggling to feed their children and to pay their rent.  With no service economy, they have lost their jobs.  Many are undocumented and cannot, or are scared to, access government support.

This is a community emergency, and we need to support our tight-knit community.  Our goal is to help every New Horizons family in need with funds to meet their basic needs, especially groceries.

Because it is an emergency, as a non-profit, New Horizons can legally fundraise for tax-deductible donations and distribute funding to individuals.

the steps

New Horizons director and teachers are in direct contact with our struggling families and their needs.

Through this project, we will distribute any monies raised directly to low-income families in the form of gift cards.

why we're doing it

Low-income families are disproportionately suffering from the COVID-19 shutdown.  It is our responsibility as a non-profit that serves low-income families to help them figure out how to survive this crisis - and to rebuild their lives once it is the right time.  Our cmmunity's kids are depending on it.
