About the project
Our 2nd Annual Youth Safety Day-Keeping Kids Safe Online Event is happening on Saturday, August 26th from 12pm to 5pm at 3360 Charlevoix St., Detroit, MI 48207. This is a FREE fun-filled family event, with free food, balloon artists, mini cyber-safety, educational clinics, a photo booth to capture great memories, guest speakers, a two hour basketball clinic with native Detroiter, Rodney Heard, and a special appearance from the Detroit Pistons one and only "HOOPER".
This event is aimed at increasing community involvement and raising awareness to youth and parents about online digital dangers, digital citizenship, and digital reputation. With over 500,000 predators online daily searching for vulnerable children, cyber safety for our youth is more important now than ever before.
The ACV team will be onsite to help educate and facilitate.

Why we‘re doing it
A Courageous Voice is committed to protecting children from bullying, digital dangers, abuse, and exploitation.
»1 out of 7 children ages 10-17 have been sexually solicited online.
» 1 out of 4 children will be bullied, 1 out of 5 will be cyberbullied.
» 9 out of 10 children between ages 8 and 16 have viewed pornography on the Internet. In most cases, the sex sites were accessed unintentionally when a child, often in the process of doing homework, used a seemingly innocent sounding word to search for information or pictures.
