About the project
Help us print our cookbook! We love developing and handing out cookbooks at the end of our semester. Students are able to look back and make delicious, healthy, vegetarian dishes we've prepared together throughout the year. Help us reach our goal!
We realize many claim they are “allergic to salad”– a convenient and understandable excuse in this era of pre-packaged industrialized food. Our work combats this widespread “allergy,” while increasing skills, technique, and familiarity with healthy foods, and creating a platform for a lifetime of nourishing exploration through hands-on, activity-filled classes.
Why cook?
Classes provide basic kitchen safety, food handling, food prep and technique, including knife skills. We encourage cleanliness, proper table setting and manners. Cooking is known to increase motor skills, math skills, build self-esteem, self-reliance, and more!
The Steps
1. develop recipes
2. teach recipes
3. design/ edit cookbook
4. print cookbook
5. hand out cookbook at completion of semester to all our students!
Why we‘re doing it
This cookbook will be handed out to all our students so they can look back on their healthy, vegetarian cooking classes and enjoy the recipes at home with their families! Cooking togehter fights obesity, reduces sugar intake, increases familiarity with a variety of vegetables and more!
