the project
Connecting Cleveland is an interactive traveling diversity and inclusion exhibition with a three-fold goal of sparking self-reflection and awareness, raising cultural competence through perspective taking, and authentically showcasing Cleveland and fostering community through intercultural education. Connecting Cleveland seeks to spark the initial step of a lifelong journey of cultural humility, an examination of intrapersonal and interpersonal beliefs and cultural identity.
the steps
In consultation with local subject matter experts, Connecting Cleveland will establish an exhibition that is engaging and entertaining, academically accurate, culturally responsive, and technologically sound.
Through static and dynamic exhibition elements, innovative use of digital imagery and multimedia technology, and self-reflective activities, the exhibit will tentatively guide attendees through a journey of self-exploration and social connection. Effectively, attendees will explore their own perspectives and the identities of others, all while learning more about diversity, equity, and inclusion
why we're doing it
Connecting Cleveland seeks to bridge the divide that fuels exclusionary acts and other detriments to community building, and transform fear and ignorance into appreciation and understanding.
