About the project

Congolese Community of Greater Cleveland is a community of more than 1000 Congolese living in the Greater Cleveland area. As the youth president, I am organizing two conferences for our young people to be aware of Racism as a public health crisis and how they can fight for their rights and get to know more about the law and what they are required to do as future American citizen. This conference will be coordinated with different people such as nurses, doctors, police officers etc... with ioby, it's a big opportunity for my people to get a chance to speak up in a big crowd and be able to express themselves.

The Steps

  • my team and I will look for a hall for two days which will cost a max of $3000.
  • We will secure rentals needed to host the conference
  • hire specialists to capture the event like a videographer and photographer
  • secure speakers such as doctors, nurses, and clergy

Why we‘re doing it

We want to have a conference for the Congolese youth in the area so we can inform and  AWAKE our youth to be aware of their rights and how to fight the racism and injustice they encounter. Our hope is to give our youth exposure to various aspects of life from health care to education and jobs. Also, we want to raise awareness about the connection between racism and health.
Our goals are:

  • Raise awareness about potential solutions
  • Empower people to act to eliminate health disparities and
  • Help each other to understand better the system ad how it works.
