About the project

Music uplifts, encourages, and unites people from all walks of life. We are partnering with local organizations to share music at the highest level of artistry with communities who may not usually get to hear it, including people experiencing homelessness, children undergoing medical treatment, and refugees. These performances will be open to the general public as well, providing a unique opportunity for people from different backgrounds to connect. Funds raised in this campaign will support the production of 6-8 string quartet performances around Cleveland between October 2019 and January 2020.

Some of our past performances have taken place at The Cosgrove Center, a day drop-in shelter for people experiencing homelessness, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, the East Cleveland Public Library, and at Garfield Memorial Church for the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine, an evening for people with special needs.

The Steps

  1. We are currently cultivating and building upon existing relationships with the local organizations that will host these concerts.
  2. When performance dates are finalized, we will work together with these organizations to spread the word to the community so people know they are invited to attend the concerts (fliers, emails, social media, etc.)
  3. We will select repertoire for each program with our audiences in mind, and rehearse diligently as an ensemble to prepare the programs to the highest artistic standard.
  4. Where possible based on the space and rules of each hosting organization, we will include a reception at the end of our performances. We want to connect with our audiences over food and conversation as well as music, and allow a time for concert goers to meet one another as well!

Why we‘re doing it

We want to enrich lives and communities, reminding people that they are loved and valued regardless of their circumstance or station in life. Music is a gift that can nourish hearts, souls, and minds, and we want to offer this gift to our community. By inviting people from different backgrounds to attend these concerts we also hope that relationships will be built that help bring people together across barriers of age, class, or life experience.
