Community Podcast Studio

A community recording studio, classroom, and event space for storytellers to share unique and underrepresented stories in the form of podcasts.

Media production skills are increasingly important in our culture but the software and equipment can be prohibitively expensive and so access for everyone can make a huge difference in whose stories get told and how.

With this studio, the goal is to support local podcasts and provide ways for the community to share stories and learn important new skills as podcasting involves a myriad of overlapping roles, including writing, editing, producing, interviewing and presenting. This community recording studio will provide podcasters with the flexibility to produce different kinds of stories and try different types of approaches. Culture happens, so why not create a podcast and talk about it? Let’s create a space for that.

To further enrich the community a photo studio will be available within this space for aspiring creatives & entrepreneurs to help refine and build their brands. This space can be used to take pictures of products & merchandise, film promotional content and connect visually with the community.

The overall goal of this project is to provide the community with a creative studio space that is safe and provides opportunities for people to come and learn about media production while creating podcast, videos, and brands that allow their stories to be heard and used to inspire the community.

Acquire studio space i.e., sign lease, occupancy permit (September 1st, 2020)

Partner with 3 – 6 Local Podcasts seeking to record podcast content (September 15th, 2020)

Partner with 3 – 6 Local entrepreneurs seeking professional product & merchandise photography (September 30th, 2020)

Partner with 3 – 6 Local photographers seeking professional photo studio for client photos (September 30th, 2020)

Partner with 3 – 6 Local social media influencers to create promotional campaigns & media that brings awareness to community issues/accomplishments (October 31st, 2020)

Partner with 1 community youth program to provide free media production mentoring to teens ages 13 – 18 years old (December 1st 2020)
