Community Greenhouse
Physically we will build a hoop house to start plants from seed and hold classes. What we are also building is a place where the community can decide what to grow and share knowledge on how to grow.

About the project
Our volunteers will build a new community multi purpose Hoop House to grow seedlings for multiple neighborhood projects. This will have a positive impact on our environment. Growing plants for tree pits will increase rain water mitigation. Providing more plants to the community will spur soil remediation and improve air quality. Will hold classes on the effects of composting and food waste, which account for upwards of 4% of greenhouse emissions.
The Steps
We will plan out the design of the structure guided by how it will serve the community
We will recruit our neighbors who have the skills to physically build it
We will make a list of supplies and purchase them
We will begin construction
We will complete construction
We will celebrate
Why we‘re doing it
Our neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn is an environmental high risk zone. We endure bad air quality due to a lack of trees and plant life that stems from bigger systemic exploitation of our land. We have no knowledge or access to where our food comes from making us reliant on a system that continually does us harm. We are going to give some of the power and knowledge back to our people.
