About the project
Redefining Urban Resilience, One Story at a Time
The "Climate Chronicles Unleashed” project is a dynamic and empowering experience designed to equip individuals with the tools and skills to raise their voices, share their experiences, and drive change in their overburdened communities.
In frontline communities worldwide, residents are facing the impacts of climate change daily. From extreme weather events to environmental injustices, their stories are both powerful and essential. The Climate Chronicles project is a multiphased immersive experience designed to provide participants with a platform to connect, learn, and harness the art of storytelling as a force for climate advocacy within their community.
In this immersive experience, participants will:
-
Unleash the Power of Storytelling: Learn how to craft compelling narratives that convey the urgency and importance of climate action, drawing from their own experiences and those of their communities.
-
Amplify Their Voices: Understand how to effectively use various media platforms, from social media to public speaking, to reach a wider audience and create meaningful change.
-
Build a Supportive Network: Connect with like-minded peers, mentors, and climate activists who share a passion for addressing climate challenges in urban areas.
-
Empower Themselves: Gain confidence and skills to advocate for sustainable solutions, influence policy decisions, and inspire community action.
Your support will make a tremendous difference in helping us provide these voices with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to become climate champions in their communities. Join us in amplifying the voices of those on the frontlines of urban climate change, and together, we can create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
*Any funds raised beyond what's being asked will be used towards phase II and phase III of the project.*
The Steps
To bring the project to life and achieve its goals, several key actions and steps need to be taken. Here is a list of actions required to make the project happen:
- Phase I, Pilot Workshop - April 2024 - The pilot will be open to all members of the community. However, a select group of individuals - no more than ten (10) - will serve as “Project Test Pilots”. These individuals will commit to doing additional work by completing surveys and providing feedback to develop the full Climate Chronicles Unleashed workshop. Project Test Pilots may be compensated for their time.
- Part I - Storytelling 101 - A compressed version of the proposed Climate Chronicles workshop sessions.
- Part II - Evaluation and Update: Participants will actively participate in the session and provide feedback to fully develop the overall project.
- Part III - Implement full project development (Phase II & III)
- Phase II, Workshop - July to September 2024 - Climate Chronicles (Unleashed): Empowering Voices in Urban Resilience
- Part I - Participants will learn skills and techniques for developing their climate narratives. Participants will record and share their climate stories.
- Part II - Participants will develop and practice interview skills. Participants will learn about basic audio/video recording and editing skills and discuss strategies for translating climate storytelling into action to confront the climate crisis.
- Part III - Participants will interview a guest speaker, such as an Indigenous community member or a natural resource professional, about their climate stories. Participants will conduct and record interviews with members of the community
- Phase III, Podcast - November 2024 - Climate Chronicles Unleashed - The "Climate Chronicles Unleashed" podcast will dive into the untold climate narratives from underserved communities while navigating diverse topics including diversity in sustainability, women in the field, environmental and climate justice, and the intricacies of food justice.
- Phase IV, Website - November 2024 - Climate Chronicles Unleashed - The website will serve as an archive repository for the individuals who participated in the workshop and for those who provide content for the podcast.
- Phase V, Storytelling Showcase - April 2025 - Climate Chronicles Unleashed - Select individuals will share their stories during an Earth Day Showcase
*Any funds raised beyond what's being asked will be used towards phases two to five of the project.*
