the project

Volunteers will go into the Fountains of the Planets area while it is drained of water to remove all types of litter and debris. They will remove anything that is dirtying up the massive water area.

This is being done so when the water and fountains are turned on it will be a pleasant and clean experience for all the people that use the park.

the steps

Volunteers will scope out the area and assign different sections for specific people to focus. They will also coordinate their efforts to maximize the amount of work done.

All debris will be bagged up and picked up the the NYC Parks Dept sanitation truck when the cleanup is finished. Before and after pictures will be taken.

why we're doing it

We are doing this project because this park is a flagship park and needs attention in trash and litter removal.  The volunteers and the Conservancy want to show that the public cares about this park and will do what is needed to keep it maintained and cleaned up for everyone that uses the park.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park is the home of 2 previous World Fairs and needs to be cared for as it once was. This is one of the objectives of the Conservancy as the show that the public can aid this park in being a great location for many types of activities. It was once a world showcase and can be once again.
