Re-imagining Technology for Delta Students
Many rural communities find themselves sitting on the sidelines while technology advances all around them. Delta Circles is committed to helping rural communities in Arkansas get in the game. Technology provides students with instant access to a vast amount of information and resources to open doors to new entrepreneurial opportunities.
This project allows us to expand our 2-week summer tech camp into year-round exposure to technology trends and opportunities. Imagine a place that prepares students for future opportunities in the Arkansas tech industry and beyond. Imagine a community where people dream and thrive again.
Imagine it beginning in a classroom transformed into a tech lab, at the Eliza Miller Opportunity Hub in Helena-West Helena, AR.
Technology is impacting rural America and we believe that it can have a greater impact. By introducing youth to technology at a young age, we are strengthing their knowledge of math, science, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, we are increasing the likelihood of Black boys and girls being interested in technology careers in the future.
Delta Circles along with other community partners have recently successfully re-purposed an abandoned school campus into an opportunity hub and an invaluable asset to the community. Yet, we believe that it can be so much more. The Tech Lab is in the early stages of implementing a tech ecosystem that serves the Arkansas Delta by exposing technology to rural communities.
We are doing this because we recognize the value of our youth and the need to prepare our community for new options through technology to impact generational wealth.
