Democracy is not a sprint - it's a marathon. It takes dedication, commitment, and focus - and it only makes sense that there might be some bumps and bruises along the way. This election, more than ever, our civic health is at stake, and we need to take care of ourselves and each other. We’ve got your back with our Civic Health First Aid Kit.

Do you need help registering, or registering others, to vote? Do you wish you were better at explaining complicated down-ballot issues to your friends and family? Are you looking for constructive ways to start conversations about how state and federal policies affect us at the local level? Or do you just wish you could email a handy explainer to your aunt and/or cousin that would cover it all?

Civic Health First Aid Kits are your free go-to fix for questions leading up to the November 2020 election. We partnered with local designers and artists to create a kit that contains all of the supplies to cover the hows, whats, wheres, whens, and whys of civic participation that you never knew you needed - and it is downloadable for free and shareable in order for YOU to help spread the message.

Brought to you by Action Tank, a think tank based in Cincinnati, OH that is focused on civic engagement and best government practices, including transparency, evidence-based policy, accessible policymaking, and creative community engagement.

The Steps

Mid-July: Content consultation with policy experts and experienced partners on the best material to include in the kits

Late-July to August: Research and drafting underway

Early August: Our designing partner brings the kits to life

Mid to late-August: Civic Health First Aid Kits for everyone!

Why we‘re doing it

Our civic health is measured by how well we participate in our communities, and being an active and engaged voter is one of the most essential and effective ways to take part. The upcoming General Election in November will be one of those most consequential elections in American history, and we at Action Tank want to create a resource to help local voters make informed decisions when they fill out their ballot. Once the first kit is launched, we will update it with fresh info for every election going forward!
