About the project
I am hoping to draw the community near as this project launches. The City of Refuge is a safe, haven for the community , we will provide health and wellness lifestyle changes. The community will benefit on a large scale. We started this project because we noticed how poorly our neighbors are eating due to COVID-19. People are struggling to eat as well as eat healthy meals. The City of Refuge knows that we could utilize our space to help the community to survive and thrive through COVID 19 and beyond.
The Steps
- We will prep the land by getting rid of old trees and bushes
- Nurture soil
- Build garden beds
- Minor landscape enhancements
- flower, seed, and fruit tree planting
- Health and wellness education
- pruning the gardens
- harvesting fresh produce and giving to community
Why we‘re doing it
I'm in the neighborhood a lot (almost every day). I am aware of residents in the area who struggle to put healthy food on their tables for their families.
The city of refuge wants to be able to support our neighbors in a meaningful way. We already offer services and ministry in the neighborhood; however, this project allows the opportunity to sustain this impoverished community.
