the project
I've created a skit to engage the children in the importance of voting! We have many youth excited to perform the skit just two weeks from now, on September 25th.
The children will be holding signs like:
"Hands Up, Don't Shoot!"
"Vote!"
"Say no to drugs"
"Show Love"
"Rest in Peace George Floyd"
"Breona Taylor"
"Bless our Teachers" "Bless the Police" "Bless the Homeless"
"No Bullying!"
"Freedom of Speech"
"Stop Racism"
Our City Councilwoman Mary Sheffield will be joining us to speak with the children, along with her father Rev Horace Sheffeild, who will be opening us up in prayer. Other special guests will be in attendance as well.
I plan on serving the youth food and drinks as well as making sure they have school supplies. I would like to give my guest offerings of love as well.. It is important to hire a photographer to take pictures so that the children's performances and engagement are captured. We also need flyers so that everyone knows this event is happening and that they can join us. I need a camera so i wont have to pay for a photographer each time our community
Please join us from 12pm-2pm on Saturday, September 25th at Martin Luther King Park at the corner of West Grand BLVD and Rosa Parks.
the steps
We will come together as a team because team work makes the dream work, There are public relations invoved, phone callls, etc. We need to shop for everything we need, and we need to organize ourselves so that everything goes as planned.
why we're doing it
The pandemic has had us locked in.The children have been exposed to so much, that something positive and encouraging from leaders of the city will be a breath of fresh air. This project will bring together the children and adults of this community such that the children can learn from our leaders like our City Councilwoman, and be engaged in civic life by learning about voting through this skit.
This event is also in recognition of our very close freind, Tracy Adams, whose son's life was taken much to soon. Tracy will be speaking on his behalf on violence to the children.
