the project
At the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School's mission is to meet the needs of all learners using an effective response to intervention (RTI) framework. This impact not only how we engage with students in the classroom but also how we see ourselves engaging with our local school-age children in the community as a whole. We are fundraising to not only fund school supplies for our students but also maximize our impact on the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood as a whole.
Since opening BSNBCS in 2010 we have developed talented scholars who although may be considered at-risk because of their socioeconomic background we found with proper guidance and support they can also go on to thrive as college bound teenagers. Our K-8 school currently serves 720+ students who each deserve an equal chance at a valuable education and with this charity giveaway event we hope to help remove those barriers not only for our children but also our parents.
Our goal is to build this program out and host a Back-to-School event in August that the entire community can attend, raising $25,000 to provide 1,000 backpacks, reaching not only our students but additional families from the Bedford-Stuyvesant community who would like to attend.
the steps
$50: Provides school supplies for two students, including notebooks, pencils, and backpacks.
$250: Supports the purchase of healthy snacks and refreshments for the event attendees.
$500: Enables us to purchase additional uniforms, shoes, and undergarments for families in need.
$1,000: Helps build a school supply bank with 40 backpacks ensuring the success and sustainability of our program.
$2,500+: Purchase 100 backpacks for our bright future leaders to be prepared really impacting our bottom-line goal of 1,000 BACKPACKS FOR BEDSTUY!
