Brookline Teen Outreach has been providing the youth of Pittsburgh with indoor and outdoor fun, education, service opportunities, and all-ages counseling for 3 1/2 years and have owned our building for the past 1 1/2 years. In addition to these services, our 100+ capacity main hall and nearby industrial kitchen are regularly rented to a variety of community members at below market-price.
The one major capital expense we need to deliver a great experience to the community is to replace the decades old aluminum framed triple glass door set, as
(1) two of the three doors have broken hardware; we will be replacing the full door set.
(2) the doors are three single framed units, limiting the size of items which can be brought in. Our replacement door set is a double door, allowing the transit items twice as large.
(3) the doors are not ADA-compliant. Our new set will include a handicap access button and actuator.
1. Secure $5,000 in funding from our donors, with matching $5,000 from the ioby.org matching grant with the Jefferson Regional Foundation, and separately we have activated an additional $5,000 from the City of Pittsburgh's Urban Redevelopment Authority.
2. Order (a) front door set
(b) handicap access add-on kit
3. Install both (a) and (b).
4. Celebrate after the doors are installed!
BTO's Mission: To provide quality resources free of charge to youth ages 10-18 in the Greater Pittsburgh area to maximize their potential through educational and social programming, life skills workshops, tutoring, community service opportunities, and licensed counseling.
The main foyer doors broadcast a strong welcome to the community.
