About the project

We have lost a lot since the start of the COVID pandemic. Help us create a small winter wonderland in our newly renovated backyard space to regain a sense of normalcy during these challenging times.

This year more families are going through the devastating lost of Loved Ones and coupled with finance and job loss in already marginalized communities of the Bronx. The year we are striving to help the needy with a toy drive and small gifts for the elderly and homebound residents at this time of year. We would like to have the capacity to serve 220 kids, at least, this Holiday Season with Holiday Surprises.

Our project is A Little Bit Of Christmas COVID 2020 in a small place in the South Bronx. We need sustaining monetary funding, toys, and donations of outdoor Holiday Christmas decorations to create a small winter wonderland in this newly revitalized backyard space which was done to help provide a peaceful and stress-free environment where people can regain a sense of normalcy during this time of COVID.

In this time of COVID, creating a new norm we must help our children and youth that are in need of healing which we (the community members) must take responsibility and become part of the solution too, Holidays this year has dramatically change the way we celebrate. We have lost many young and old and we need some Joy. It’s Christmas time in the City and children should be laughing.

With your support, we will host a neighborhood toy drive and deliver PPE support to help bring some holiday cheer to those in need this COVID Christmas, Kwanzaa and Celebration of Three Kings. There are many that find themselves in a continuous state of new norms and our holiday season is going to be quite different from those we have served in the past.

BTP serves one of the poorest Congressional districts in the United States. As throughout this pandemic BTP initiatives have served 5000 individuals and families in the Bronx community. We distribute and deliver food and PPE staples and now that our resources have been depleted greatly, we are asking for monetary and or toy donations support to help us continue our mission to serve those in need. This Holiday we will do door knocking to serve the elderly with a food basket and a little jingle of song to lift their spirits.

The Steps

Raise funds, purchase products, decorate the backyard, and host a holiday event.

Why we‘re doing it

As a 52 year resident of the Morrisania Community, one of the poorest neighborhoods in the U.S., I have seen the many changes and challenges.  I interact daily with our community residents quite often, especially during this COVID pandemic of 2020. We have delivered PPEs, distributed meals and food staples to thousands of residents, and provided comfort to those that have lost loved ones while bearing the loss of our own. Our tasks have changed but the mission is still the same: to help sustain and support our community residents' current and future needs for wellbeing.

Our project's mission is to help BTP to maintain a self-sufficient entity and positively continue to impact the social and spiritual health of the community residents and its visitors , We will do this through hands on participation encouraging community residents and components to respect and enjoy the beauty of the our community and open spaces , through interacting in a vibrant spaces to play and relax as well as take ownership through planting, cleaning, spruce ups and landscaping that uplift its decor and community spirit. We will use this project to continue our outreach work and ability to incorporate residents and workers in uplifting activities that inspire all ages of our volunteers to build capacity for our community's cultural change and  engagements to better relationships within our Community, Bridging gaps Breaking Barriers to successful Sustainable Relationships in our community and helping to Heal its people.
