the project
We are writing to request your participation and patronage for an exciting community event organized by Bengali Cultural Society (BCS) Cleveland. BCS is a nonprofit 501c(3) charitable, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to promote culture and literature, and promote friendship and cultural exchange with other organizations and groups in the United States.
To showcase 75th Year of India’s Independence, renowned violin icon Dr. L Subramaniam and celebrated vocalist Kavita Krishnamurthy have created an unique ensemble of orchestra and vocal performances called “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. Dr. Subramaniam and his orchestra would be touring several US cities to perform his creation. As an artist, he has been recognized as one of the greatest classical Indian violinists of our generation holding the title of Padmabhushan, the third highest civilian honor in India. Ms. Krishnamurthy has recorded over 50,000 Songs in as many as 36 Indian languages and hold the distinction of being awarded Padmashree, the fourth highest civilian award in India. The orchestra is expected to perform at the Houston Symphony and San Diego Symphony among other cities during this tour.
We at BCS are therefore proud to host this one-of-a-kind concert on 20th August at the Matz Performing Arts Center, Case Western Reserve University, 1855 Ansel Rd, Cleveland, OH 44106 Cleveland.
