Ways to conserve water brought to you by LADWP

the project

It has been noted that some renters and homeowners unknowingly misuse their living spaces. Many are unaware of the possible interior hazards and environmental damages caused by the unnecessary overuse of utility supplied services. We are here to help change that.

Up to 50% of supplied water is used for landscaping.

35% of the energy used in homes is wasted.

Los Angeles is now in a severe draught.

Home ownership or apartment renting does not come with a “How-To” book. Much of what we know about home management was learned from the less efficient times of the past. We provide total home health education in classroom and online platforms on how to use all major home mechanical systems efficiently to reduce operating cost and to help prolong the need of repair to heating and cooling, electrical, plumbing and gas operated systems. Instruction will be led by the owner of a property inspection company with an electrical, lawn irrigation management and multiple industry certifications. Assisting is the owner of a home repair company who has a plumbing and licensed pest control background. Our shared knowledge is the current topic and concern of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) “Healthy Home” outreach.

the steps

We offer a full learning program during our peak consumption summer this coming Saturday, August 6th in a three-hour class from 11am to 2:30pm. Bottled water, coffee, snacks and breaks will be provided.

Workshop will begin with an introduction to safe home and apartment habitation information, including lead paint facts, mold, unhealthy air prevention and pest prevention given by a certified indoor air and building standards specialist.

After first break will be education geared towards lowering home water, power and electrical appliances use and the available utility rebates.

After second break will be a discussion on the environmental and sanitation impacts of unwise household waste management. In addition, we will distribute water saving devices for sinks, showerheads, toilet tank dye tablets for leak detection. We will also educate our classes to some of the common utility service scams perpetrated particularly against our vulnerable senior citizen community.

why we're doing it

We believe that a healthy community starts at home. Now that our incomes and planet resources are being tightly squeezed more than ever, we offer educational services that helps relieve some of the economic and environmental stresses that our most economically disadvantaged communities face here in Southern California.
