About the project
Karla Florez School of Dance intertwines dance, music and storytelling creating a multidisciplinary piece, that consist of one major performance, a workshop, and an exhibition of handmade costumes and headpieces elaborated with reused and recycled materials to address an environmental action rooted in the cultural traditions of Colombia. Storytelling about birds and humans, lyrics and dance steps, elaboration of wings with recycled materials, to be done with the community that will be invited to create together. This project showcases the richness of Colombian rhythms. Working in inclusion and connecting to other cultures from counties such as Dominican Republic, Bolivia and India to recreate bird movements though dance. Live music, percussion instruments.

Why we‘re doing it
This project advocate for the preservation of the leaving creatures of the ecosystem, specially birds. To share information about the need to be mindful of human eating habits that could interfere with birds' lives. To highlight a need of educating about biodiversity loss and climate justice. To promote and reinforce the acquisition of Spanish as a second language and cultural awareness. To inform and motivate the audience to go to their closest place for birds walk. To raise awareness of the need to protect the natural forest for birds.
