Barksdale-Auburndale Mobile Bocce Club
We're going to create a mobile bocce court that can be setup quickly then broken down for transportability. Then we'll set up down the block for refreshments and a nice game of lawn bowling!

About the project
We are going to design and construct a movable bocce court with rails, a sign with a scoreboard & rules of play, and a couple of sets of bocce balls. Then, we will set up on the block for an inaugural Mobile Bocce Party, with refreshments and lawn bowling fun for all! We are neighbors from 2 blocks of the Vollintine-Evergreen community. Our goal is to create an informal pop-up gathering/play space that can be moved throughout the neighborhood and the city! (It will also fulfill John Paul's nostalgia for his time living in a former bocce club in New Orleans...)
The Steps
We will put together a team of neighbors to conduct a build of the court elements and help with design and construction of the signage. Then we'll have a party and play some ball! We expect about a month for design, art, and gathering supplies. The build should take part of a day, with an opening celebration to follow shortly thereafter. We are shooting for early June to get the project together.
Why we‘re doing it
Our project will create an inviting game and play space for the neighborhood that can be moved as needed and brought out to events, block parties, etc. No real challenge, just an added fun spot to pop up here and there!
