the project

Buck Out Cleveland, in partnership with the MVMT Foundation, is hosting an in-depth training opportunity for aspiring dance professionals including youth, teens, and adults. Away Dance Camp is a camp structured dance training experience, where Dance Campers ages 9+ (including adults) will receive transportation, meals, and lodging at the Eastern Ohio Sports Complex. There, Dance Campers will participate in 4-days (2-day options available for adults) of technical and nontechnical developmental sessions, immersed in HBCU Dance culture and guidance directly from dance industry professionals. Dance training will be provided by collegiate-level and professional dancers and choreographers.

why we're doing it

The inaugural Away Dance Camp will serve as an added layer of support for those interested in honing their HBCU-style and industry dance skills. The Away Camp will also provide a low-barrier safe space for Black women and girls to bond socially, release emotionally, and express themselves creatively through various dance styles.
