About the project
ATNSC is developing a campaign to collect the resources necessary to create a sustainable foundation for its work in Northeast Ohio. We are creating an interdisciplinary space for wellness, life-long learning and leadership through a multicultural and creative framework for our local community while creating opportunities locally, regionally and nationally/internationally to engage in experiential and creative dialogue to create a sustainable just world. We will do this by instituting daily programming, intentional learning experiences and public healing spaces for communities throughout the city of Cleveland. We will do this by bringing thought leaders, artists, healers and change agents to engage our community in new and energizing ways. We have a special emphasis on intercultural, cross cultural and intergenerational connections to develop innovative, creative and sustainable solutions to both local and global dynamics. Our world is changing and we need to develop new ways of being and doing in our world. This project is one way to nurture who we need to become in our changing landscape.
The first phase of the project is securing space in the Buckeye neighborhood while creating access to community members East and West. We are fundraising for program materials, equipment for health and wellness services, scholarships for program participants and for minor renovations within our communal space to open our doors.
ATNSC at Kahnyonhake, is a gathering space in Cleveland where healing, learning, creating and leading through a lens of wholistic transformation as the focus of its work
The Steps
Once we have raised the funds we will work to secure and renovate our selected Buckeye location; prepare the space for an August 2016 grand opening. We will purchase the items necessary to provide massage, meditation, herbal consultations and yoga classes. We will secure our four change catalysts-in-residence for monthly extended programs, begin marketing, website development and community outreach to spread the word of our offerings. Additionally, we must develop our administrative infrastructure (office supplies, hospitality supplies, tables, chairs, etc.) to ensure safety, hospitality and flow of services.
Why we‘re doing it
We believe sustainable community change begins with the health and well-being of its members; We believe access to alternative health modalities within a neighborhood, access to information and diverse ideas are critical to building momentum and capacity within a community increases innovation, community organizing effectiveness and the creativity needed to address local community concerns; paradoxically, we believe access to diverse global perspectives can catalyze local communities to see themselves connected to a larger narrative and create increased commitment to nurturing a healthy community—change may begin with self, yet access to the tools and strategies to increase self-awareness and confidence is critical to any social transformation.
