About the project

Thank you!

Astoria Mutual Aid Network is a group of neighbors working together to support their community and each other during the COVID-19 crisis and building bridges and networks to extend beyond the immediate needs of COVID relief.

We cooperatively operate a shared community center at 25-82 Steinway that acts as our primary outreach space for a variety of mutual aid projects including Astoria Mutual Aid Network; Astoria Food Pantry; Free Store Astoria; The Rolling Library; Astoria Tenants Union; and other grassroots efforts based in Astoria. These Groups are 100% volunteer-run and provide non-emergency assistance, free of charge, to community members without any means testing or eligibility requirements.

Every donation you give us is fully tax-deductible to you!

The Steps

These funds will help us:

  • Feed neighbors experiencing food insecurity;
  • Provide sanitation and basic needs supplies;
  • Support families who need basic baby items;
  • Pay rent on our Community Center at 25-82 Steinway; and
  • Expand our reach of communications and operational capacity.

If any funds remain after the need has passed, they will be donated to nonprofit organizations serving the most vulnerable populations in Western Queens.

Why we‘re doing it

We believe that neighbors have a duty to take care of one another, and that this tight knit fabric is what makes Astoria the best place to live in New York City.

To better serve our most vulnerable neighbors, we are linking up with initiatives that are feeding people, keeping people safe, and giving people the resources they need to make it through this pandemic safely. We are doing our part, but we are not the only ones doing the work.
