About the project

Recognizing the lack of cultural awareness and the need for mentorship within the African American community is the premise for Ashe Village.

As a graduate of the National Rights of Passages Institute (1995) with years and years of practicing the Nguzo Saba seven principles within my own family I decided to answer the call to share my family's experiences and knowledge.

Ashe Village will be a pivotal community organization providing access to resources in every area of need including mental health, social services, education, and community engagement opportunities.

The ultimate goal is for Ashe Village to be a central hub for all services vital to "sustaining and improving our village".

The Steps

August- Selecting the fall cohort of 24 youth and families & Training our elders and staff

September- Application and interview process

October- Inviting selected youth and families to the program & Hosting first retreat!

January- Celebrate the new year with the second retreat!

Why we‘re doing it

I'm grew up in the Glenville neighborhood and I've seen it change over the years. Help us revive the neighborhood to it's former glory as we seek to offer quality programing that we bring to the community. Help us make these life changing programs accessible to the Glenville community!!
