the project
We will be building a resident led leadership team through educating training and uniting the community. Residents of King Towers will identify common neighborhood barriers and advocate for themselves to create change. This will lead them and their neighbors to better health and a better quality of life.
the steps
Meetings will be conducted in the lobby of ten NYCHA buildings on a monthly basis. Residents will identify issues and share community concerns that need to be addressed. The funds will be allocated towards training and empowering the team to pursue a goal of health equity and justice for the community . The funds will be used as incentives to empower and support the residents.
why we're doing it
The focus is to bring awareness to our communty that we have the right to live in a place that is equitable in terms of health and fair housing conditions . We want to bring awareness with AMPLIFIED VOICES that the power is in the people and that by uniting one community we will start a new generation of people taking care of each other and themselves with unity and respect.

We're excited to partner with The Royalty Project...
Posted 06/05/2018 - 2:05pm
The funds we raised will provide three weeks of programming including six sessions to King Towers youth that will serve to promote positive self-esteem through academically enriching programming.
Sessions will be facilitated by The Royalty Project, Inc. (TRP) – a non-profit organization and mentor program designed to improve self-images amongst youth of color with a curriculum featuring culturally responsive themes promoting social justice.
Sixty students who attend the Martin Luther King Towers SCAN Community Center summer program will benefit, preparing them for youth leadership roles within their communities.
Snacks to accompany program sessions.
Thank you for your generous support.
