AmeriCorps NCCC is a residential based service opportunity for 18-24-year-olds. If you are reading this, you probably already know that. You know that words can't capture the amazing, whacky, and transformative experience that is AmeriCorps NCCC. So I'm not going to try - because you get it.
AmeriCorps NCCC members are currently deployed across the country. Despite everything going on globally, they are still getting things done, making people safer, smarter, and healthier. As alums, I believe that we should be doing something to make current members' terms of service slightly brighter.
the steps
1. We reach our fundraising goal. Woo!
2. Connect with Team Leaders to coordinate care package contents and addresses. (Also taking suggestions from alum for care package items)
3. Purchase care package items
4. Send care package items
5. Member receive items and enjoy.
why we're doing it
Remember how good it felt when a sponsor took your team out to a nice local dinner (like Tudors Biscuit World in Hurricane, WV) or made you a nice home-cooked meal (thanks George Ellis!) or a teammates family member sent every one weird watches they got in Italy....okay this is getting too specific to my experience, but I'm sure you all can relate.
We are doing this to recreate those small gestures that go a long way while serving as an AmeriCorps NCCC member. I hope you'll join us in this act of appreciation and solidarity.
