the project
BXPets Day is a FREE fun-filled family event, with games and prizes for the whole family, including our furry, four-legged friends! Programming includes tons of local pet-related businesses, animal rescue organizations, and environmental groups, offering a variety of free or low-cost services, merchandise and information! Take a look at last year's amazing event: Friends of 4 Parks Hosts Bx Pet's Day at Franz Sigel Park | Bronxnet
The event is aimed at increasing community engagement, fostering a sense of pride and agency over our green spaces, and ensuring that we, as a community, continue to keep our parks beautiful, accessible, and family-friendly. To this end, the NYC DEP will be onsite to educate park users about pet waste management and the NYC DOHMH will also be onsite to offer dog licensing services, and to explain the City's dog licensing requirements.

why we're doing it
The parks served by Friends of 4 are at the heart of our South Bronx neighborhood. As such, they need to remain accessible, clean, and family-friendly so that everyone in our community, including our dogs and dog parents, enjoy a friendly atmosphere. Our pet parents will also benefit from learning about pet-related resources that we already have, right here in our own backyard, and everyone will benefit from a play-filled bonding experience! By enticing more community members to engage with our green spaces through our programming, we foster a sense of pride and responsibility for our parks, increasing participation in our clean-up efforts, and other revitalization projects.
