the project

Volunteer & HELP host two Bring & Fix
events in our Valley this year.

We’ll build relationships, share knowledge
and make old things like new again.

    ·      Sunday, October 8, 2017
Setup 10 AM – Open Doors 11 AM – Close Doors 5 PM

           Arab American Community Center
           15 Belgrade Ave, Youngstown, OH
Here’s how it works:

  • We need local volunteer fixers to set up repair stations. For example small electrical appliances, computers, clothing, housewares, bicycles, etc. And neighbors are invited to bring their broken stuff for repair, including any necessary replacement parts.

  • Please be an event helper. Contribute to the Pot Luck luncheon of finger food and snacks. Also donate to the “Really Really Free Market” with gently used clothing at the swap table. Co-host with your smiling face and helpful demeanor and chat with neighbors. If an item is not fixed, it can recycle.

  • Bring your safe fun kid activities or games using recycled materials. It's family-friendly!
  • Sign up to do a table exhibit or mini workshops. Places where community members share hobbies, talents and knowledge

Our expected attendance will draw from the unpaid segment of residents.
Which takes in the family, neighbors, community, culture, and civics, about40% of the economy.

why we're doing it

It’s up to us, you and I, to Co-create a Sustainable Thriving Future.

Time Bank Mahoning Watershed will showcase a wide range of sharing activities. All from here in the Mahoning Valley. And to practice our core beliefs; that everyone has something to offer. We know that every person has assets. Everyone has something to share with their community. This varied event can engage our community as co-workers and co-producers.

ShareFest – Bring & Fix It – Face-to-Face events – as they continue and grow:

  • Will encourage a community shift from a discard to a repair/reuse/recycle mentality

  • Will reduce landfill waste

  • Will strengthen community

  • Will set the stage for warm, easy, helpful intergenerational connections with others

  • Will share skills and build confidence

  • Will work towards restoring engaging conversations without dependence on electronic devices and applications.

Think about it! This is the perfect opportunity to bring people together who are excited to co-create a sustainable and thriving community.

"We have what we need, if we use what we have." Dr Edgar Cahn
