- We're getting a facelift!!!
the project
We appreciate all the neighborhood support we received during 2016! We loved meeting new neighbors, digging in the dirt, and watching the flowers grow. We've expanded our gang of volunteers, and we look forward to keeping Father Fagan Park in bloom again during 2017.
the steps
We anticipate 3 seasons of plantings in the park: in May, we'll put in spring and summer flowers; during September, we'll add in some autumnal color and in December, we'll finish out the year by adding holiday greenery. Some may know the the City Council provided funding for a renovation of the park back in 2011. It looks like the Parks Department may finally start the project in 2017, although no contract has been signed. If our planting season gets interrupted by a renovation, we'll save any funds raised to support the park post-renovation.
why we're doing it
The Parks Department doesn't have the staff or resources to dedicate to the park; it's up to us! We're getting a facelift!!!
Posted 04/14/2017 - 8:53am
Friends - Spring has sprung and you may wonder why FFP isn't blooming as we had planned. It's for a fabulous reason!!! Beginning in late May (after a FIVE-year delay) the Parks Department has promised to begin renovation on the park. This is after many false starts along the way, and we're thrilled that this long-anticipated project has finally been given the green light.
We've stopped raising money for the flower fund, as we anticipate that the park will be closed for the entire growing season. We'll keep the funds for when the park reopens and we'll have an even larger area to keep planted, maintained, and flowering.
Thanks so much for your interest and support of FFP.
P.S. for more information on the renovation, please email us at foffpark@gmail.com
How to donate by check...
Posted 12/07/2016 - 1:24pm
If you'd rather not give online or don't have quick access to the internet, you may give by check. Here's how:
1. Write a check to ioby with the preferred donation amount and list our campaign name on the memo so that we know where to apply the funds: 2017 Father Fagan Flower Fund.
2. Send the check to ioby at 540 President St. 3rd Fl., Brooklyn, NY 11215.
3. If you would like to receive a tax receipt for your check donation, please include a note with the check requesting a receipt and list your name, email address and phone number.
