Chris Jones, Memphis Action Strategist

Chris is ioby’s Memphis Action Strategist, where he works with community leaders to cultivate the resources they need—donors, volunteers, partners, and local experts—to make positive civic change in the places they call home. He comes to ioby following a career as an employment lawyer with a Fortune 500 retail company. Chris holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Talladega College and a J.D. from the University of Memphis.

Chris has long been committed to community work and social justice. As a law student, he authored an article on slave reparations, which was selected for publication in the University of Memphis Law Review. While practicing law, he served as the board chair of the Veritas College Preparatory Charter School, managed a grass-roots congressional campaign, and served as a board member for Urban Art—a local nonprofit committed to improving Memphis through vibrant public art projects. He remains connected to the legal community through various bar association activities and is a songwriter/guitarist/indie artist in the Memphis music scene.
