In the heat of the moment, it can sometimes be easy to lose sight of the longer journey. And it's true that this election cycle is unprecedented: from a global pandemic, to enormous tech challenges and beyond. But the journey that begins today with actions big and small builds over the course of months, years, and decades. There are critical things to do now—from getting out the vote, to marching in the streets. And there's also the hard work of building strong connections with our neighbors, and making positive change across difference—the kinds of things that make our democracy more resilient and more perfect in the long run. In fact, we think that sustained, energized, collective action is the only way to fulfill our democracy's promise: that we each have a voice and, through that voice, agency to help build a better society. And doing so starts with stepping up, in ways big or small, today.

Whether it's making sure neighbors can vote safely, ensuring our communities aren't susceptible to fake news, or just making sure folks remember to register to vote. We're pulling together projects to inspire you, as well as tools and resources to help you, on your journey towards strengthening our democracy and ensuring a smooth election. While projects crowdfunding on ioby must be non-partisan because of our non-profit status, there's much that you can do to get involved with democracy and elections on ioby. Explore this page to see how.

There's lots you could do to help organize your neighbors to get involved with elections up and down the ballot, and to get involved outside the election cycle too. If you need funds to help bring it to life, we can help make it happen. When you crowdfund with ioby for a non-partisan project that boosts civic engagement or participation in elections in your community, you'll get an ioby Success Strategist dedicated to you who can offer personalized coaching to help you work through developing your project idea, fundraising for it in your community, and bringing it to life.

Remember, to be eligible to crowdfund with ioby your project must take place in the United States, be local to where you live, work, or play, and have a clear community benefit. Your project must be non-partisan, and cannot benefit a political or lobbying campaign or party of any kind. Eligible projects related to an election could include, but are not limited to: toolkits to help neighbors understand their voting rights; flyers or campaigns to register voters; creating public art that celebrates and encourages voting; tactical urbanist interventions like street chalk, planters, or ramps that make it physically easier and safer to vote.
