the project

Vote Everywhere partners with college campuses and organizations that share The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s commitment to student civic and political engagement.

Each campus has at least one Vote Everywhere Ambassador who creates meaningful civic experiences for students by registering them to vote, connecting them to related campus initiatives, helping them stay informed of pressing social issues, and completing social justice projects.

The funds raised through this campaign will enable the Andrew Goodman Foundation to recruit Ambassadors, provide them with support and training, and develop their leadership and mentoring skills to successfully create and implement social justice projects that matter to their communities.

the steps

Working with both existing and new college partners, the Andrew Goodman Foundation will meet with its campus liaisons to plan the training, program materials, and support being offered to the Vote Everywhere Ambassadors. The Ambassadors will then work with the organization to outline their plans for voter registration, issues activism, and social justice projects. The Andrew Goodman Foundation checks in regularly throughout the year to assess progress, help troubleshoot any issues, and provide oversight and guidance.

why we're doing it

Andrew Goodman and two of his contemporaries, Michael Schwerner, and James Chaney, were young adults committed to social justice who were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan for that very commitment.

Today, young adults continue to lead social justice movements but they need support and training, just as Andy and the 900 other college age volunteers did during Freedom Summer 1964. The Andrew Goodman Foundation is continuing the march towards freedom and equality by helping Millennials pave the way toward civic engagement and greater political power. Our Vote Everywhere program teaches Millennials about the democratic process, provides on-campus opportunities for issues activism, and gives them the tools to carryout social justice projects that make a difference in their communities.
