- iPads have been installed!
the project
The Hospitality Hub runs hugely successful jobs program that directly helps people to exit homelessness in spite of the fact that our computers are completely horrible. My idea is that we set up workstations with iPads securely mounted to tables and wireless keyboards that can be “checked out” at our intake desk.
the steps
-
Purchase and install workstations.
-
Purchase iPads and mounts and have them securely mounted to the workstation.
-
Purchase suitable stools, and move phone station to the other side of the room.
-
Purchase wireless keyboards with integrated mousepads.
-
Make posters to announce the new system for using iPads and checking out a keyboard.
why we're doing it
Imagine being a homeless person who has finally secured a birth certificate, a state ID and then a social security card; this process has taken more than six weeks. You come to the HUB and sit down with a volunteer who helps you spend an hour filling out an online job application - only to have the PC freeze, losing your job application.
