It's My Park! Day, Oct 24, 2009

Thanks to the more than 100 Brooklynites that came out on a very rainy Saturday night to support Brooklyn parks by drinking Kombucha (courtesy of Kombucha Brooklyn), eating salsa (courtesy of Brooklyn Salsa), and drinking beer at Brouwerij Lane. We raised $375 for projects that night. Check out the pictures.

Original Notice:

Celebrate It's My Park! Day by getting involved in a park near you. Organized by Partnerships for Parks in the spring and fall, It's My Park! Day is a great way for New Yorkers to rediscover the open space and patches of grass in our neighborhoods.

Last spring, ioby donors funded an It's My Park! Day cleanup of a Veteran's memorial in Rosedale, Queens, organized by the Cornucopia Society. Watch the video here. This fall the Cornucopia Society is back at Veteran's Square to plant bulbs for spring.

KBBK LOGO FINALIn collaboration with Kombucha Brooklyn and Partnerships for Parks, ioby is connecting Brooklyn parks projects with local business sponsors. On October 24, from 6-9pm, Kombucha Brooklyn is debuting two new kombucha flavors at Brouwerij Lane in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and donating a portion of their sales that night to a Brooklyn project of their choice. It's My Park! Day volunteers should join us after their hard day planting and cleaning for a glass of Kombucha, beer, or just for the fun at Brouwerij Lane in Greenpoint at the corner of Greenpoint Ave and Franklin Ave. If you are a local Brooklyn business and want to find out how you can participate in donating to Brooklyn parks projects on October 24, please email us at info@ioby.org. Thanks to Whole Foods Market Bowery store, Kombucha Brooklyn, and Brouwerij Lane for making this event possible!
