The Green Design Lab™ is a project-based curriculum and guide for greening schools created by Solar One, a Green Energy, Arts and Education Center in New York City. By teaming up teachers, students, families, and school administrators, the Green Design Lab™ helps create a comprehensive plan for greening school buildings and acts as a launch pad for sustainability education in schools. 23 New York City public schools in all five boroughs are currently taking part in The Green Design Lab™.
At participating schools, students, teachers and staff come together to decide on a school-wide sustainability project. Each project makes a positive, long-term impact on the school and community by providing students with a hands-on working model of solutions to current environmental and energy related issues.
Each school is asking for donations to purchase materials, tools and equipment for their project. Your donation to one or more of the sustainability projects will help New York City public school students make lasting changes in their schools and show the world what all schools might look like in the not-too-distant future!
